| Bryn Haworth
Service - 8 May 2011 |
Following
his Saturday night evening of Gospel Blues and country rock at the
Craigiebield Hotel, acclaimed slide guitarist and singer songwriter
Bryn Haworth led the evening service at St. Mungo's on Sunday 8th May.
Members of the five churches in Penicuik, and passing visitors
experienced an
uplifting service mixed with songs and readings.
Supported
by Graham McDonald and Andrew Dunsire, two of St. Mungo's own musically
talented members, Bryn played a number of gospel songs, with the
congregation becoming more and more actively involved.
Bryn
presented an excellent sermon, based on God is good, whatever the
circumstances. When things go wrong we should think of the good times
that God has given us, to see us through the bad times. His
analogy of what he called the "yeahbut" response used by us all from
time to time when asked to go forth and do something. "Yeah but you do
that, not me". How often did Jesus hear that from his Disciples and
followers? "You do that, not me!" he would hear. But we all can if we
try, through our own God given talents that each and every one of us
have been given.
A time for companionship over a
cup of tea completed a fantastic evening with Bryn.
We
hope he will return to visit us again in the future.
Thanks
to; Graham McDonald (piano), Andrew Dunsire (guitar), and Gordon
McGregor (sound engineer)
