Christmas Fair  - 29 November

The visitors to the St. Mungo's Christmas Fair on Saturday 29th November knew that it was never too early to start thinking about those Christmas presents. The stalls were full of all sorts of great ideas for gifts and stocking fillers. Agnes Ovenstone had some fantastic toys for the children on display this year, and Heather Boyle had been working overtime producing a wide range of Christmas cards, along with a selection of birthday and special occasion cards. Heather offers a bespoke service as well, to design you that card for your own special occasion.

The bottle stall always does well with everything from soft drinks, wine, beer and this year once again a bottle of whisky for one happy ticket holder. Babara Sprott and Mary Paterson were behind the counter.

The Raffle had a full Christmas hamper with all sorts of delicacies to sample over the festive season. Susan Dun was selling the tickets, with a special raffle for a wonderful childs doll, complete with outfits specially knitted which was won by a young Katie Jackson. Katie had spotted it as soon as she arrived. Just as well her granny Christine Jackson bought that winning ticket.

Another chance to win a stocking filler was up at the tombola stall, where Linn Kinloch and Joan Traquair had displayed a variety of great gifts. The book stall also caught the eye of many browsers, with plenty of new titles being added since the last display of books.

No Christmas Fair would be complete without the home baking stall which was heaving with freshly baked cakes, meringues and chocolate cakes. Helen Sutherland was tempting the customers taste buds.  The best thing was you could have a coffee or tea with a cake or two before you took the plunge to buy. Talk about try before you buy. It proved a popular idea.

Everyone had a great time and the Fair raised a total of £530 towards church funds.

Thanks to all who supported the event and have a happy Christmas. For all the Christmas events click HERE
