St.
Mungo's church was filled with the sounds of praise from the
Weatherfolk on the evening of Saturday 16 June 2012. Ken and Casey
Weatherford, are an acoustic husband/wife duo, worship leaders, and
Jesus-followers currently living in Edinburgh.
The concert,
arranged by Andrew and Ann Dunsire, was raising funds for the Love
Russia trip to Estonia where Ann and Andrew will be helping orphans and
other underprivileged children. Ken and Casey from Tenessee have travelled the states playing original music and leading worship at churches, universities, and special events.
This
summer, Ken and Casey are living in Edinburgh, working with the
Edinburgh & Forth Circuit of the Methodist Church. During their
time here, Ken and Casey are starting a new church community called The
Gathering, working with art- and music-based initiatives, and helping
grow a network of discipleship groups in the city.
With
equal parts acoustic guitar, keys, harmonies, and clever lyrics, the
Weatherfolk’s music reaches the folk-lover, the blues-fiend, the
gospel-clapper, and the easy-listener - all in one set.
While
Ken and Casey provided much of the music and song, Andrew and daughter
Linda played and sang, as well as joining with Ken and Casey to form a
foursome.
After the event refreshments were provided and the opportunity to purchase the
duo's two EPs: Together (2010) and Give It Away (2011).
A
total of £913.35 was donated after the concert, and will go a
long way to helping the children on the forthcoming trip to Estonia.
A big thank you to all who braved the elements, which had not improved from the morning Summer Fayre event.
Come along to Sunday service and hear extracts of the Weatherfolk songs before the service.
