Update 7 August
The
Lothian Presbytery Advisory Committee met with the Kirk Session on
Tuesday 7 August and confirmed that we can elect a nominating committee
in our search for a new minister. The Nominating Committee of thirteen persons will be
chosen from St. Mungo's members, by St. Mungo's members on Sunday 26th
August. Members are encouraged to attend this service and take part in
the selection process.
The
nominating committee will be made up of a cross section of St. Mungo's
membership te reflect the range of styles that the membership would
like to see in a new minister. A member of the nominating committee
need not be an elder of the church, but must be a member of St. Mungo's
28 June The
Lothian Presbytery meeting on Thursday 28th June granted permission for
an unrestricted call for a new minister at St. Mungo's. This allows us
to form a vacancy, or "nominating" committee, advertise the vacancy,
and start our search for a new minister.
Other activities
and preparations are well advanced. Work on the manse has included
installation of cavity wall insulation and improving the loft
insulation in the extension area to bring the insulation up to modern
standards. The gardens are scheduled to be tidied up, subject to some
dry weather, completing the works.
A new profile covering the
type of ministry we are looking for, and what we can offer a new
minister has been created, and will be used to advertise across the
Church of Scotland, and on line.
The Mungo Messenger and website will keep you up to date with progress as we commence our search for a new minister.
