Quiz night - 20 May 2015 |
St Mungo's wins back the 'Smart Alec' Teddy Trophy in the interchurch quiz held on Wednesday 20 May in the church hall.
A
great night was enjoyed by all when we welcomed teams from St James the
Less and the South Church who both commented on how good it was to
enjoy a social night with each other and wished it could happen more
often.
We had five teams varying in size from five to seven
members named The Hopefuls, Pat's Team, The Sindicate, The Last Resort
and last year's winners Cabbage Ha' renamed this year as Cabbage
Ha' Revisited.
Gordon MacDonald and Agnes Ovenstone shared asking the questions and keeping the score.
The evening was so full of fun that some of the questions had to be repeated because of the laughter.
One
of the questions asked was whose catchphrase is "To infinity and
beyond" the answer to this is of course "Buzz Lightyear" and we
even had actions. Another question which caused a lot of
headshaking was "How were Bingo, Drooper, Snorky and Fleagle better
known". Understandably this had to be repeated! The answer
of the Banana Splits brought a lot of "who are they?" although one team
could sing us the theme song.
We had questions on film,
television, food, pop music, pot luck, sport, geography, flags, capital
cities and the bible. The bible questions were set by our
minister Hugh Davidson and he was very strict with the answers.
We had a break halfway through when tea/coffee and a variety of loaves and cakes prepared by the social committee was served.
The winning team "The Hopefuls" comprised of Christine Jackson, Moira Dickson, Debbie McCall, Helen McCall and Margaret Barry.
