| St. Andrews Night - 2 December 2011 |
Report by Agnes Ovenstone
The
St Andrew's Night went really well although unfortunately a number of
people were unable to come on the night due to illness. However we
still managed to pass to Ian £305 for church funds.
The programme after the meal of haggis, turnip and neeps, trifle and tea/coffee and biscuits and after eight mints was:
St
Andrew - Patron Saint of Scotland, Greece and Russia. Geoff,
Gordon, Ian Newton and Jimmy Kinloch performed Zorba the Greek and
Cossack Dancing (both dancing of a sort) The we had the
Skye Boat Song - Geoff and Gordon rowed across the stage in an upturned
table as Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora MacDonald respectively. We
managed to get them pretty wet with the stormy weather we created Next
a sketch was performed about an invitation to a special church service.
Taking part in this were Norah Cox, Christine Jackson, Margaret Black
and myself.
The Massacre of Glencoe was next with the lads again and the ladies of the committee as the MacDonald women. Jimmy Kinloch then sang Highland Cathedral and then led everyone in community singing before finishing with Auld Lang Syne.
