Summer Fayre - 16 June
Report and photos Jim Paterson
We
expected summer sunshine as we approached midsummers day. But no the
rain was tumbling down as it had for several previous days that week.
The
skies may have been gray outside but inside St. Mungo's Hall there was
plenty going on with a wide range of stalls selling everything from
books and DVD's to home baking and even sets of china tea services.
Of course no fayre would be complete without the tombola and "raffle" stands and there was plenty to win at both.
Refreshments
reflected what we had hoped for by way of sunshine with strawberry teas
and cakes of all shapes sizes and flavours available to go with
as many cups of tea or coffee as you wished.
The home baking stall then did a "roaring" trade as people dashed to buy their own selected favourites.
So
it was smiles all round despite the rain outside. The morning raised a
total of £488 that will go to St. Mungo's church funds.
A big thank you to all who braved the elements and came along to swell the numbers and enjoy the morning.
Yes it felt like that outside, but not here at the fayre.

Now, have I read this one?
Time for refreshing cup of tea and some cake.
