Destined for the under privileged children,
and adults of Romania, this years selection is even better than
past years. Returning this year are the cuddly toys, banned last
year as worries over what was in the toys gave officials some
concern.
A total of 44 knee blankets, in a wide
selection of colours and patterns were knitted along with a huge
selection of hats and glove sets for young babies, children and
adults. 28 teddy bears will also find at least 28 children to
love them on Christmas day.
Organiser Sheila Haig provided a
big thank you to all who contributed, in front of the
congregation. The gifts will bring the Christmas cheer to many
who would otherwise go without. Sheila said "I think that
announcing the event back in April helped, with many of the
contributors "pacing" themselves rather than trying to rush at
the end".
Sheila also announced that St. Mungo's will
repeat the event next Christmas, so plenty of notice given.
However I'm sure Sheila will remind us again in the new year.
Meantime sit back and congratulate yourselves on a job well
done!
The St. Mungo's gift will be collected by
Blythswood
Trust and shipped out to Romania, along with gifts from many
other churches and charitable organisations in time for
Christmas.
